I have integrated yoga as my way of living since 2007 when I was struggling to find balance in a very toxic work environment. I found the peace it brought very powerful! As a front line social worker self-care became my saving grace from burnout and yoga eventually was my retreat and sanity while providing a safe place to breath.
Years later, I completed my RYT200 with my intentions set on holding space for others through their grief journey. I was determined to help people find their flow through times of honoured and necessary stagnation. I began teaching bereavement yoga for hospice which was a beautiful blend of grief education, heart opening, breathwork and reiki. After taking Bernie Clark and Diana Batts' 50 hour Yin Yoga Teaching training program and Neil Pearson's 22 hour Pain Care Workshop, I taught a workshop focusing on grief and bereavement with the Yin philosophy as my guide. The workshop was based on tools such as meditation, breath work and single asanas honing in on grounding, forgiveness and ways to stay present. Reiki was provided while in restorative poses leaving students feeling rejuvenated and ready to face grief in a new light. I currently work for NOW Canada providing a Holistic program which is a co-created class that plays with Yoga Nidra, Restorative, Yin and Reiki. I also offer private yoga sessions with options of specialized program development, integrated Reiki or grief yoga combined with Holistic Counselling. It is my greatest honour to walk beside my students through one of the most challenging but life rewarding experiences. Namaste,
