My name is Nikki VanVoorhis. At age 23 I found out I had a heart condition. I was living in Los Angeles, 3000 miles away from friends and family. I needed a way to cope with the stress and anxiety of having a serious health condition. Yoga helped me. It wasn't until I was introduced to the Ashtanga yoga method, however, that I found a practice that truly resonated. The structure, stability, and integrity of Ashtanga yoga provided me with a much deeper connection to myself. It inspired me to make changes in my life, and to further my spiritual practice. I moved back home to Vermont. I worked on getting my health and life back. I met a boy, got a puppy, and moved to Woodstock. Ten years after learning about my heart condition, I am now owner/operator of YogaMari Vermont and teach Ashtanga yoga in a small, bucolic town in the southern part of the state. I'm home and feel good.
I travel to Miami Beach, Florida to work with my primary teacher, Tim Feldmann. I had the honor of receiving my 200hr-RYT at Miami Life Center with Tim Feldmann and his wife Kino MacGregor. A heartfelt thank you to my incredible boyfriend Matt, who introduced me to this practice to begin with.
