Emma Palmer is the Founding Principal & Director of Education at Moksha Yoga and the Moksha Academy of Yoga located in Bentleigh, Victoria.  Emma is registered as an E-RYT-500 and RPYT (Registered Pre Natal Yoga Teacher) with Yoga Alliance and Level 3 Senior Yoga Teacher with Yoga Australia.

Emma has taught over 5,027 hours of Yoga classes, courses, workshops, master classes and intensives as well as YTT Lectures, encompassing a wide variety of Yoga topics since 2003. She has a Certificate in Yoga Philosophy, Diploma of Hatha Yoga Teaching in excess of over 1400 hours of Teacher Training,  Reiki Degree Levels 1 & 2 and has studied up to her 3rd year in the Bachelor of Health Science Degree (Naturopathy, SSNT).

Emma’s passion for Yoga began in her early teens when she picked up her first Yoga Book and started to explore the philosophy, science and practices of Yoga.  Her commitment to asana practice grew much deeper in 1998 when she started to travel around Australia.  Emma has continued to deepen her knowledge and experience of Yoga whilst undertaking additional Yoga studies in both Australia and the United Kingdom since she completed her training in 2003.

Emma is a highly respected Yoga Teacher, Teacher Trainer as well as a freelance writer contributing to the bi-monthly publications of Australian Natural Health Magazine and you can view some of her articles here.  She is regarded with a strong reputation for her in-depth, applied knowledge of gross anatomy, systemic physiology and energy anatomy.  Emma remains a dedicated student of Yoga and continues her Yoga studies at every given opportunity.  Her knowledge and passion of yoga is profound, and she has devoted her life to sharing that love of Yoga with others.

Moksha first started in February 2005 where she taught Yoga in a small tree house located at the back of a TCM Clinic, also located in Bentleigh, and this is where the seed of Moksha first found its roots and where her dreams of creating a sanctuary of Yoga first began!

Today, Emma teaches classes that are dynamic and challenging to both the body and mind.  Her classes are interwoven with the holistic benefits of the practice including how asana benefits the internal organs and systems as well as integrating her love of Yoga philosophy.  Her classes are a fusion of strong, powerful and energetic asana and pranayama combined with a deeply spiritual undertone providing a holistic Yoga experience.

Emma’s teachings and practice have been strongly influenced and inspired by the teachings, philosophy and practice of Sharon Gannon & David Life from Jivamukti Yoga and feels privileged to have been taught by them whilst in the UK.  Emma is also inspired by the teachings of Mātā Amṛtānandamayī Devī, also known as Amma, (Mother) and is moved by her humanitarian and philanthropic efforts across the world.  For Emma, Amma represents the very essence of our true purpose, to live with compassion, love and in service to others.

Emma created Moksha Yoga with the view of creating a community of dedicated students and teachers, and she continues to openly share her knowledge, passion and love for Yoga in the hope that all students receive the many blessings that a yoga practice brings.
