Saharu Oda’s spiritual journey began with a meditation practice early in her childhood. She found yoga later in life and her deep appreciation for yoga started to flourish in 2005 as a way to balance her stressful years during dental school in New York City. She is extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to deepen her yoga practice in a city with such a great abundance of yoga studios. This allowed her to experience many styles of yoga with incredible teachers and to truly begin to understand the self transformative power of Yoga. This journey inspired her to open Indigo Yoga, a yoga studio in New Mexico, while also still practicing as a dentist. She owned and managed the studio for 3.5 years until the birth of her first son which introduced her to a whole new expression of Yoga. Indigo Yoga is still going strong today under new ownership and she still teaches there regularly.
Saharu hopes to bring the self acceptance that she experiences through her practice to the community and to cultivate a reconnection to the Self. Through all the various modalities of Yoga, Saharu sees yoga as an effective tool for peeling off the layers of our identities to become closer to the Truth. She aspires to empower students to confront and overcome the resistance that is preventing them from creating harmony within and experiencing Self love and acceptance.
