Eleni was born and raised in Athens, Greece. She did her undergraduate studies and her doctorate (Ph.D.) in Carcinogenesis Modeling at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She also has Master’s Degrees (M.S.) in biological fields relating to human health. She is a Member of the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS) and a Senior Research Fellow of the International Society for Philosophical Enquiry (ISPE). Her stance is esoteric. In her quest for holistic mind-body harmony, she trained the body and became certified as a Personal Trainer by the American Council on Exercise (ACE). More importantly, she resonated with Yoga. Mentored by Vivi (Ki Gyo Shin Sei, joyful practice-deep silence) and guest teachers at NYSY (Νοῦς Ὑγιής ἐν Σώματι Ὑγιεῖ, mens sana in corpore sano), she undertook the foundational 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT), and then the 500-hour YTT with specialization in Anatomy for Yoga. She cherishes teaching Anatomy to both fledgling and veteran practitioners, weaving yogic sadhana and scientific observations. She places emphasis on experiential wisdom and creativity, and attempts to reconcile the intellectual and the spiritual. She appreciates simplicity and maintains a beginner’s mind. In her free time, she enjoys peripatetic and natatorial activities.
