Donna Martin, RYT Began her yoga practice over 17 years ago. She walked into a local yoga studio took the next class offered and went back to this studio 6 days a week for the next 2 years. She has been studying ever since. Her teaching is rooted in the belief that practice itself is the great teacher. Dedication to and time with a practice allows us to explore and cultivate yoga's teachings. Her teaching philosophy is to guide the students in front of her as they are, on that particular day, in that moment. Her classes focus on individualized effective alignment from the foundation up. She believes "correct" alignment is different for each person and can be felt when the breath is steady, the mind is open, the spine is long and the gaze is soft. Her classes incorporate Ashtanga Vinyasa -- a traditional practice, committed to a precise coordination of breath, shape and gaze blended with her emphasis on alignment-based guidance and individualized modifications. She is first and foremost a dedicated student and continues her study with Faith Scimecca, Keith Moore and Jafar Alexander. She has been trained by Alan Finger, David Kyle, Jafar Alexander and Maryam Ovissi.
