TEACHER OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION

I am a holder of a university degree from the Department of Physical Education Science and Athletics, graded with “exceptional” and have been working as a Physical Education Teacher in Greek high schools since 1994.

YOGA, PSYCHOLOGY AND OTHER ALTERANATIVE FIELDS

My apprenticeship in Yoga began in 1986, under Robert Najemy. The Yoga training course I took was intensive and lasted four years. It included the entire theory, philosophy and practice of Raja Yoga. The curriculum was taught in yearly seminars that were attended weekly, intensive weekend and summertime meetings – retreats, which lasted from a week to a month; in total, over 500 hours of training according to present standards.

I attended, without exception, all other related annual, summer seminars and open lectures given by Robert Nagemy, as well as the weekly Hatha Yoga lessons by Sophia Mavromati, from who I also learnt Tibetan longevity exercises.

Being one of the few students who fulfilled Robert Najemy’s requirements, I attended his classes in advanced pranayama, advanced stages of Nadi Shodhana, Badha and other techniques for retrospect of past lives.

Having taken examinations, I have been accredited as a Full Teaching Member of International Yoga Teachers Association since 1991.

From time to time, I have introduced subjects regarding Yoga at various events, such as seminars at the Physical Education Alumni Association, on “Respiratory Gymnastics”, at the University of Patras in 1999 on “Full Breath and Health Education”, the lecture at the University of Economics in 2003 on Yoga, at fitness conferences held by Body Time and Kumite  magazines on “What Yoga is and isn’t”, as well as at North Academy in Thessaloniki and at the First Yoga Conference on the History of Yoga and its place in the Hindu culture, which was part of a three-day alternative event organized by the Yoga World magazine in 2006.

Furthermore, I have given a series of lectures about Yoga in various venues that provide these services, on subjects such as “What Yoga is and isn’t”, “Yoga: an alternative means of exercise”, “Meditation”, and more.

I have also offered my services and knowledge of Yoga at several cultural venues, gyms and sports venues, philosophical associations in Greece, since 1991. In other words, I have taught well over 5000 hours of Hatha Yoga since 1991.

Among other activities, I have published articles about Yoga in magazines, such as Armonia, Zenofi, the Path of Martial Arts, Kumite, Budo, Body Time and recently in Yoga World.

I am the Academic Director at the Hatha Yoga training school called Yoga and Budo Center. From 2007 to 2009, I acted at President of the Hellenic Yoga Association, of which I am also a founding member. At present, I am President of the Hellenic Scientific Hatha Yoga Trainers Association, which is currently in process of foundation. In addition, I am a holder of a Master in Reiki.

I have graduated from a six-year seminar course “Self-awareness, Meditation, Philosophy & Love and Knowledge” taught by Robert Najemy, a seminar on “Phychodynamics” taught by the psychologist Theophani Bouka and a seminar on “Autogenous Exercise” taught by neurologist – psychiatrist Xenaki.

I have acted as radio producer on two radio programs (On Health Ecology radio station for two years on a show entitled “Endeavor for Self-awareness and Yoga” and on Mind radio for a winter-period show entitled “Acquaintance with Yoga”).

SECONDARY EDUCATION (REEDUCATION – AWARDS – CONGRATULATIONARY LETTERS regarding Yoga, Physical Education and Health Education)
