Maria is a Level 3 certified Forrest Yoga teacher and frequently travels teaching workshops and trainings based on her thorough knowledge in physiotherapy, functional anatomy, perinatal yoga support, and Native practices. She is specialized in injury prevention and sustainable long term solutions. Part of her mentoring is to coach her trainees how to hold space for themselves and their students in a compassionate way, how to work with triggers and challenges and how to refine hands-on assists.
Maria loves the challenge to discover new perspectives and ways to be authentic and to unfold everybody’s full potential, including her own. She believes that combined with deep breathing this allows for more freedom, creativity and vitality. Maria is committed to create a sacred space for growth, to realign the body and mind and cultivate healthy habits. She will always encourage you to explore, play and be your own empath when going deeper.
By doing what she does Maria wishes to create community where we celebrate our strengths instead of competing with each other, where we don’t have to hide our limitations, where we can learn how to trust and be joyful and laugh together.
Maria’s method of teaching is fun and very light with the idea that we need these qualities in order to learn and thrive.
"Ever since I can remember I was fascinated by the human body and mind. As a child I was passionate about learning and understanding physical movements of any kind. I watched people move, trying to read the stories their bodies were telling and from it every time. At the age of 20 I wanted to become a professional dancer. But soon I figured out that I was more interested in preventing injuries than just entertaining folks. In 2005 I started my love affair with yoga and finished my bachelors degree in physiotherapy."
She moved her body from Shadow to Bikram Yoga, continued with Ashatanga and Vinyasa. She also practiced with several internationally well known yoga teachers such as Ana Forrest, Simon Low, Les Leventhal, David Swenson, Tiffany Cruikshank, Jason Crandall, Shiva Rae, Daniel Scott. Maria did her first 200h Training with Vidya Jacqueline Heisel of Frog Lotus Yoga (2012) and is also trained in Thai-Massage. She finished her Forrest Yoga Foundation Teacher Training (2015) and Advanced Training (2014) and now travels to assist Ana Forrest and other Forrest Yoga Guardians for trainings and workshops.
