Heather Elizabeth McCarrol is a yoga teacher and poet. She temporarily studied English, French and psychology at York University and continues her education at George Brown College.
Through her motivation to become healthier, she found the ahimsic path of self-study known as yoga.
At age 19 Heather met her teacher, Acharya Sundeep Tyagi and joined the 200-Hour RYT program at Freedom Yoga Gurukul. After graduating in 2011, she remained as a student and teacher for Freedom Yoga, sharing the practices laid out by Sundeep for a healthy life. In 2013, Heather graduated from the Advanced 300-Hour RYT course.
Heather focuses on healthy manageable eating, working as a Coordinator in a healthy fast-food restaurant in Toronto.
She has, and continues to teach (prominently hatha yoga) in private classes, heated classes, studio classes, fitness centres classes, chair yoga, partner yoga, seniors yoga, and corporate yoga. Heather especially enjoys teaching yoga, meditation and wellness techniques to children. She has taught in private elementary schools, summer camps, and studios.
Yoga Alliance recognizes Heather as an Experienced-Registered Yoga Teacher (500-Hrs), with a Continuing Education Provider designation. Under Yoga Alliance Canada, heather is a CYA-500 Registered Yoga Teacher.
Heather continues to assist in Freedom Yoga’s Teacher Training Program and most recently finished a teaching contract with Toronto Star. Heather serves as the Administrative Manager for both Freedom Yoga and Sanskrit Yoga Sabha. In 2014, Heather edited the English-language content of her teacher Sundeep’s book Sanjh: A Book of Poems. In 2015, Heather recited the Yoga Chalisa, written by Sundeep for audio recording.
Heather looks forward to creating a Children’s Yoga Teacher Training program and publishing her stories and poetry in the future.
