Raised in Minnesota, Kayla began her yoga journey with CorePower Yoga and since then has found a regular yoga practice and lifestyle. As a competitive dancer, she found the sweat, heat and energy transformative in both body and mind. She completed her Yoga Sculpt Teacher Training in the fall of 2011 and began teaching with CPY in early 2012. Driven to learn more about yoga and to cultivate a deeper connection to her practice, Kayla continued with Power Yoga Teacher Training and an additional 200 hour Hot – Hot Power Fusion Teacher Training. Kayla continued to fuse her favorite worlds of dance and yoga through teaching. She lead numerous BootCamps, Real Ryder trainings and various yoga teacher trainings. She taught competitive dance and yoga in the Minnesota metro area and also taught yoga to the University of Minnesota women’s gymnastics team.
As Kayla grew in her role as a yoga and dance teacher, she let curiosity and encouragement from her mentors steer her into a leadership role with CPY. She has served many roles within the leadership team and has defined one of her greatest accomplishments in supporting the opening of the Atlanta market. Kayla moved to Atlanta in 2015 and has since then transitioned into her current role as Area Leader for both the Atlanta and Charlotte teams. During her time in Atlanta, she has taught many outdoor yoga classes to help build the southeast yoga community and also served as a Lululemon Ambassador.
Inspired most when she is a student, Kayla has let curiosity and encouragement from her students and colleagues steer her into more yoga education. She completed Kirtan Yoga Level 1 training with Mike Cohen and the Essentials Training with Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor. She is currently completing her 300 hour teacher training certification and is always engaged in online leadership or wellness courses.
Kayla is known most for her quirky, authentic and team – player leadership and teaching. Her belief that yogis create yogis who create more yogis, and so on is deeply connected to her passion for living the CPY mission. She loves Taylor Swift, a home cooked meal and spending time with her friends and family. Kayla enjoys being witness to her students’ growth, self-discovery and happiness on and off their mat. Her Sankalpa: “I am the light for energy, joy and smiles."
