Since graduating from college in 2004, my career focus has been working with children with special needs in a variety of settings. I have a Master's Degree in Special Education and have been working with children with Learning Disabilities, Autism, ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder in the school system for the past 6 years. Throughout this time I have come to develop a strong sense of compassion and understanding for this population of children. During this time of education and experience, I was developing another important relationship, one with yoga. Yoga helps me uphold a calm, centered mind and an awareness of the world around me. Through consistent practice, I am able to offer my students that same calm and centered attention.
My new focus is to transition from the school setting to a yoga setting to continue my work with this population of children. For many years I have dreamed of becoming a yoga teacher. I want to share my experiences of yoga with others and help them to find a relationship with yoga. The time has come to combine my two passions: teaching students and yoga. My strength is teaching and connecting with children. However, I am open to developing my teaching skills with people of all ages and abilities.
