I began practicing yoga in 1998, to balance the hectic pace of my professional life in the software industry. Since then, I have found that yoga not only relieves stress but also brings a more balanced and empowered perspective to all aspects of my life.
My teaching journey began in 2005 with the Asheville Yoga Center's 230-hour teacher training program. At the time, I was simply hoping to deepen my own practice. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that not only did I improve my personal practice, but that I find great joy in teaching yoga. I have been sharing my love of yoga with students in Savannah since that time. In 2006, I quit the rat race and have been focusing on studying and teaching yoga ever since.
In November and December of 2007, I studied at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore India. For more information on that experience, check out my blog.
In October 2008, I completed David Swenson's Ashtanga Teacher Training Course in Winter Park, Florida. I am also certified to teach yoga to senior citizens through the Silver Age Yoga program based in San Diego.
In May, 2009 I completed Mark White's 200 Hour Baptiste-style Power Yoga teacher training program at MBody Yoga in Jacksonville, FL. In October, 2009 I began my current journey, studying with Baron Baptiste. I attended Baron Baptiste's Level 1 Teacher Training in Mexico and loved it so much I stayed an extra week to participate in the G.R.E.A.T. program, which focuses on assisting students. After that I was fortunate to be a part of the B.A.D.A.S.S. program in Hawaii in February, 2010. In May 2010 I attended Level 2 training in Mexico. As of April, 2011 I can proudly call myself Georgia's first Certified Baptiste Power Vinyasa Teacher! Since then I have also assisted Baron Baptiste and attended his first ever Level 3 training in 2011.
In January, 2011 I opened Savannah Power Yoga to provide a space for me and my fellow yogis to practice power yoga on a daily basis. We offer over 30+ classes a week and I am proud to bring the magic of Baptiste Power Vinyasa to our community in Savannah.
In October, 2017 I opened Spry Mind+Body, Savanna's first studio dedicated to movement and stillness for healthy aging.
