A Gentle Way is one of the oldest Yoga Centers in San Diego County. Lanita Varshell, ERYT, (founder of AGW) has been training teachers since 1998, has owned and operated a Yoga Center since 2000, and has taught over 10,000 group classes since 1996.

Lead co-teacher, Diane Ambrosini, is the author of the best selling yoga training manual "Instructing Hatha Yoga" Their senior training staff has over 150 years of combined teaching experience, as is known for their unique ability to teach teachers not just yoga routines, but how to customize classes for students in the room, and how to work one-on-one with individual students.

A Gentle Way offers small, apprentice-style teacher trainings that give students a unique experience of mentoring with senior teachers in a 1-year local weekend program.

Our 200-hr. Certification is called Aalamba Training, which means "with support." Yoga Asanas are taught traditionally, but also broken down to adapt to the needs of bodies that may not be able to safely do traditional poses.

Our Center specializes in bringing students to yoga who never dreamed they could do yoga. Our clientele is made up of long time students of yoga who are looking for a softer, safer practice, students aging who need modifications, those new to yoga who are afraid to walk into a traditional class, students less flexible who have been injured at other studios, and plus size students who need modifications to safely practice.
