KARMA School of Yoga and Wellness provides a 200 and 300hr Yoga Teacher Training in accordance with the standards set forth by Yoga Alliance.
The 200hr Foundational Yoga Teacher Training will prepare the student to teach yoga to the general population. The program has a strong emphasis on general anatomy and physiology in relation to functional movement and asana. Students will be trained on proper and safe alignment principals of foundational poses as well as how to safely progress students based on functional movement patterns. The program will also include in-depth study of the philosophy and lifestyle of yoga as well as the rich history and many paths of yoga teaching.
The 300hr Yoga Teacher Training will provide a deeper look into anatomy and the common injuries and health issues many students have in an effort to develop a better understanding of the human body as it relates to the asanas of yoga. The 300 hr program includes focus areas of teaching persons who are elderly, have challenges due to being overweight and those who have a history of back injury / surgery and joint replacements. This is to help the yoga teacher understand how these conditions affect the language of teaching and modifications needed to assist students in their practice. The 300hr program will also broaden the yoga teacher's understanding of Ayurveda, the philosophy of yoga, pranayama teaching methods and further develop pose modifications.
