Yoga Vidya Mandiram is an international Yoga Teacher Training School, registered with Yoga Alliance USA, and located in the magical city Rishikesh, India. The school is dedicated to restore, explore and impart the purest form of knowledge of Yoga to their ancient and traditional purity as taught in the long lineage of the Himalayan yogis. Our yoga school is a bridge between pure and traditional form to contemporary format of teaching yoga.

Techniques, Training and Practice (TTP)

Topics in this category could include, but are not limited to: asanas, pranayamas, kriyas, chanting, mantra, meditation and other traditional yoga techniques. These hours must be a mix between: 1) analytical training in how to teach and practice the techniques, and 2) guided practice of the techniques themselves. Both areas must receive substantial emphasis.

Teaching Methodology (TM)

Topics in this category could include, but are not limited to: Communication skills such as group dynamics, time management, and the establishment of priorities and boundaries; How to address the specific needs of individuals and special populations, to the degree possible in a group setting; Principles of demonstration, observation, assisting and correcting; Teaching styles; Qualities of a teacher; The student learning process; Business aspects of teaching yoga (including marketing and legal).

Anatomy & Physiology (AP)

Topics in this category could include, but are not limited to: human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and may also include energy anatomy and physiology (chakras, nadis, etc.). Includes both the study of anatomy and physiology along with its application to yoga practice (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc.).

Yoga Philosophy/LifeStyle Ethics (YPLE)

Topics in this category could include, but are not limited to: The study of yoga philosophies and traditional texts (such as the Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradipika or Bhagavad Gita); Yoga lifestyle, such as the precept of non-violence (ahimsa), and the concepts of dharma and karma; Ethics for yoga teachers, such as those involving teacher – student relationships and community; Understanding the value of teaching yoga as a service and being of service to others (seva).

Yoga Asana (Guided)

In morning and evening yoga classes, the students will be taught asanas guided by trainer. These sessions will teach the traditional basic and intermediate level of yoga practices. The yoga session will start with prayer following a proper abdominal breath practices then flow into standing, sitting, backward bending, forward bending, twisting, inversion and shwasana practices.

In these sessions the students will be taught how the yoga asanas are beneficial for the body breath and mind. They will be taught how to practice these asanas meditatively along with contraindications for the practice of asana.

Guided Breathing & Pranayama practices

The practice of pranayama helpful for the breathing process and controling of breathing. In this session the students will learn to coordinate breath, mantra and awareness of the subtle body. They will also learn to guide their student to go into the deeper levels of pranayama and meditation.

Breathing & Pranayama Exercises

In these sessions the students will be trained in the exercise of pranayama to increase in vital energy to strengthen the various systems within the body. They will be taught the purpose of pranayama and benefits of it in better health.

Yoga Nidra Exercises (Guided)

In these sessions, the students will be taught whole body relaxation, tension and relaxation exercise, 31 and 61 points relaxation exercises. They will be taught breath awareness ans sweeping breath technique along with their effects on the physical and subtle body.

In these sessions, the students will learn meditation technique. They will be taught how the meditation is one pointed awareness of the mind. They will learn how to meditate, the proper sitting posture for meditation and their adjustments. They will learn two minutes meditation, basic meditation, mantra & meditation and so'ham meditation techniques.

Instructions For All Levels

In this section, students will learn the methods to communicate and consult attendees who have any common injuries. They will learn to teach the fundamental yoga practices including joints and glands, breathing practices and modification of basic yoga postures for special group of people including very fresh beginners, children, elders, pregnant women, and persons having any common injuries.

In these sessions, the students will learn through direct touch of the trainer and discussions the key outline of the main themes of Yoga Psychology to open the door to the other studies of Yoga and Meditation, such as Sankhya and Yoga Philosophies and the Bhagavad-gita. They will learn the operations of the mind-field and how to utilise it to cultivate the positive thoughts.

A Selfless Act

The students will have few sessions of Karma Yoga where they will learn about the philosophy. They will have discussion on seva as a key become a yoga teacher. They will be given some opportunities to do Karma Yoga during their training. They will be taught to distinguish what is and is not appropriate to ask and to be asked in the name of seva.
