There ARE trauma survivors in public yoga classes! Because of the nature of yoga and its connection to the body, students can easily be triggered or re-traumatized in the same practice that is supposed to promote healing. While each individual’s response to a traumatic event may vary depending on their resources, trauma experts say that virtually every person on the planet has experienced some degree of trauma in their lives. For some, the degree of trauma in their lives has been truly shattering, while for others, the impact or severity of the trauma has been milder, but we all carry trauma in our bodies and in our DNA.

When becoming a yoga teacher, we believe that it is our job to teach yoga in a compassionate and caring environment, holding space for students of all backgrounds. In this training, you will learn, relative theory and the most recent science regarding trauma. You will gain the tools needed to teach through a trauma-informed lens, and how to better support students and trauma survivors as they befriend their bodies, and reclaim a sense of safety and empowerment in their lives. We will prepare you to teach a well sequenced and safely aligned yoga class with confidence and authenticity from a gentle to a more rigorous yoga class.
You are eligible for this training if have the desire to deepen your knowledge and learn the practices of yoga philosophy, as well as the fundamentals of teaching yoga. While teaching is purely optional, there are students who may choose to engage in this journey as a way of brightening their own personal practice or accessing this knowledge as an adjunct modality to heal.
Upon completion of the training, we will present you with opportunities to work with Yogamour Outreach, at the studio, or we will support your journey towards a viable and rewarding yoga career!

By choosing to display comments, schools enable trainees to provide insight into a school’s culture and training which helps potential trainees choose the right teacher training for their individual path with yoga.
