It's a Law, Arkansas!

February 12, 2015

We did it! Thanks to the overwhelming support and outreach by the Yoga Alliance® community and the diligent efforts of Senators Uvalde Lindsey and Missy Irvin, and Representatives Charlie Collins and John Vines, our legislation to protect the rights of yoga teacher training programs to operate in Arkansas without unnecessary intrusion, Senate Bill 94, was enacted into law today. Yoga teacher trainings (YTT) will no longer be a target of the State Board of Private Career Education as they have now been officially removed from the Board’s jurisdiction.

We have reason to believe that the Board will respond to this new law in the coming weeks by issuing correspondence to YTT schools concerning the new law and reimbursement of any monies previously paid to the Board for licensing fees. Please stay tuned for further Yoga Alliance updates as we learn more about the Board’s proposed actions.

Pay It Forward!

Yoga Alliance was pleased to advocate on behalf the Arkansas yoga community and is very proud of this tremendous success. We are currently working on similar issues in other states because unfortunately, YTTs are also under siege by overzealous state governments. Please help Yoga Alliance to continue this effort, by paying it forward with a financial contribution. Any donation would be greatly appreciated, and should be sent via PayPal.
