Stories of Resilience
The Emergency Relief Fund, created in partnership by the Yoga Alliance Foundation and Ivy Child International, brought swift financial support to yoga professionals worldwide experiencing extreme finan- cial hardship due to COVID-19. It is our honor to share just a few of the 430+ fund recipients’ stories about how the pandemic has affected their teaching and lives, and how their gift of sharing yoga serves their communities.
The Online Teaching Exemption is now available for current and future RYS members who meet qualification requirements, receive application approval, and begin their teacher training program(s) in 2021. Through- out this year, YA will use findings from the OTE and the experience of its participants to inform future online learning standards and influence our long-term educational processes. Based on feedback from membership and the broader yoga community, Yoga Alliance launched new standards for its RYS 200 credential as well as a strengthened application and review process for all new RYS applicants. These enhanced standards now include the implementation of a strengthened RYS application process, which will provide for greater shared accountability to meet or exceed the new standards.

As members prepare for re-opening and recovery, Yoga Alliance has issued best practice recommendations for yoga schools, businesses, and professionals in the U.S. and around the world. This resource is based on guidance from leading public health organizations and experts, U.S.-based federal and state agencies, legal advisers, and Yoga Alliance’s collective expertise on yoga business operations and yoga practice.

Due to sweeping changes in the yoga industry, many classes and trainings are moving online. To support this transition, we have compiled a variety of online teaching best practices, tools, and resources for members to leverage. Members also have the option to display online offerings and closed-captioning capabilities to their YA profiles for directory users to easily find.
