Yoga Alliance - How to apply

Yoga Alliance^® maintains registries of the following categories. To access the application form(s) you need by clicking the appropriate section below.

Once your application has been received it will be forwarded to a Teacher/School Registry Representative. You will receive a confirmation email within 15 business days of the receipt of your application from your registry representative. The application process can take 4-8 weeks depending on the complexity of the application, if you’re required to supply additional information, or if we are receiving a high volume of applications. If we need any additional information or documentation, we will contact you.

1. YOGA TEACHERS (RYT^®)

> At the 200 hour level

All 200 hours must come from a single school

Graduate of a Registered School
Graduate of a Non-Registered School - After December 31, 2005, all teachers who do not attend a Registered Yoga School (RYS^SM) 200 will be required to complete this application and accompanying forms to register as an RYT^® 200.

> At the 500 hour level

Graduate of a Registered School
Graduate of a Non-Registered School - After December 31, 2007, all teachers who do not attend a Registered Yoga School or qualify by Grandfather will be required to follow these procedures to register as an RYT^® 500.

2. EXPERIENCED YOGA TEACHERS (E-RYT^SM)

> At the 200 or 500 level

In general, this designation is for teachers with significant teaching experience who want to train teachers or conduct continuing education. You may register individually without being connected with a school. (ERYT Application).

> At the 500 hour level

Grandparenting - This option is for teachers who can document 5,000 hours of teaching experience that occurred by December 31, 2002 .

3. YOGA SCHOOLS (RYS^SM)

> At the 200 hour level

Application - You must apply using these forms. Please note that you will also need an E-RYT application for the Director of Teacher Training and each Primary Faculty Member. (Schedules and Grids for RYS 200 application).

> At the 500 hour level

Application - You must apply using these forms. Please note that you will also need an E-RYT application for the Director of Teacher Training and each Primary Faculty Member. (Schedules and grids for RYS 500 application).

Previously Registered Yoga Schools will have to comply with revised standards over the next few years.
